Cuba- Ernesto 'Che' Guevara

Che is not a Cuban but he is so loved in Cuba.
Lived and buried in Cuba.
You see him all around the country in various different forms.
Santa Clara is his revolutionary home town.
His memorial is there too.
(Do not visit on a Monday as it's closed.)

I wonder if Che would be this popular if he had lived till this day...

My bicycle in pain!

I had two punctures in a row!
My back wheel was gone yesterday morning found out
when I arrived at work but luckily my colleague had magic
hands and fixed it for me without taking the wheel out!
And found out this morning that the front one was flat!
Didn't have enough time to fix it so just took the bus to work.
Fixed it up in the evening, front one is easy.
I love cycling and having punctures would be the only pitfall.

Christmas greetings from Habana!

I thought I just leave a quick note to say that I am still in Cuba, Habana.
I should have returned on 20th but it snowed SO heavily in Europe that
all the airports in the UK have been closed for days.
Heathrow is partly open today but Paris is still quite bad. Yes, I am flying with Air France.
I have a provisional flight for tomorrow if not 23rd. I'll have to check again tomorrow.

Life is good here, with the sunny weather and rum cocktails everyday :)
I will share more when I get home about the fantistic trip!
As much as I love to be here, I would like to get home soon too.

I was hoping to share a nice Christmas decoration I saw in London,
but it might be a bit too late now! I wish everyone a very good Christmas.
Merry Christmas!!!!!

Cuban Dream!

I am off to Cuba tomorrow for 17 days of travelling.
So glad that I am able to make one of
my dreams come through!
I get to see Fidel Castro's Cuba
though it has changed since he revolutionised
the island in the Caribbean sea.
I shall return to Cuba after Castro's death to see the change.

I can feel the heat wave!

I hope to share some fabulous photos on my return.
Adios!

1st Snow in London!

A mega cold wave has hit the UK!
Scotland has been snowing for days and
it only just hit London today.
It literately snowed ALL DAY!
Despite the snow, I did cycle but very low visibility.

Case work

It was very sudden today when I was writing some case notes
in a file that I felt I did not want to do any more case work.

I am not sure yet but I might want to consider doing
permanent duty with set time frames to return to
casework if I want to after the set period.
Though, I will have to discuss this with my line manager
at supervision. I know which case has triggered this thought,
but I might just need a change of style.
We shall see what happens!

-Case work: our team have max.of 20 cases allocated to individual
social work to follow arising issues.
-Duty: 9am-5pm emergency work with cases that are not allocated,
on social workers' absence and further issues. Often the days
           are quite unpredictable.

...Sunflower Seeds...

Tate Modern
12 Oct 2010 - 2 May 2011

Why we cannot walk in the bed of sunflower seeds...
However it would have been an interesting experience though!

This is an enormous bed of SUNFLOWER SEEDS!
Not real but made-hand porcelain sunflower seeds
by people in China.
Therefore, ALL of them are different and unique!

It was an excellent show with such power!

The Stage- Shrine

Fela Anikulapo Kuti was a Nigerian musician, composer,
human rights activist and political maverick.
The dance and music was just fabulous and it just jazzed me up for Cuba!

Evensong in Oxford

I went to Oxford for a short break from London.
It was so needed. I felt I was almost running away from work!
I actually went to listen to evensong at the colleges.
It was heaven!
New College boys choir was divine!
