Since the days of the Conservatives of the 1980s
'care manager' has been a second name for social workers.
Other professionals do sometimes ask,
'Are you a social worker or a care manager?'
My answer has always been,
'I am a social worker operating in Care Management process.'
It is quite dis-hearting to know that the label of a professional
can be altered or influenced by political climate.
The tension social workers have in Care Management various,
but the general voice is a no no and lost of real social work!
A student social worker in the team wants to do an interview on
newly qualified social worker vs. experienced social worker
in order to find out what impact and implication
care management has made so far.
This just made me think what really social work is throughout the day.
